My lvl 13 gnomish elementalist is wearing a trapped scale mail. It would
be no problem(the armor is good), if the scale mail wasn't SO heavy. So,
I need some way to let go of the trapped armor. What should I do to get
rid of it?

It basically has to be destroyed. Drop everything else
then subject yourself to any destructive traps. That's
the most commonly available way to do this, though not
the most hitpoint-friendly method to freedom. :)

The other one is scrolls of item-destruction. But these
are more difficult to find than explosive and acid traps.

The risk-free way is to dip the trapped armour in a blessed potion of
exchange. (Maybe this should be in the FAQ - I note that it has a
section on how to get rid of a cursed item, but there's no specific
info on trapped armour, and potions of exchange aren't mentioned.

It could be argued that the omission is because the existence of
both trapped armor and potions of exchange are sufficiently
advanced spoiliness that they would not be appropriate for the FAQ.
This argument might not be valid, but it could be made.
Well, the information on how to get rid of a cursed item is spoily as
well... and this question about trapped armour is fairly frequently
asked, at least as frequently as how to get rid of cursed items, I'd
say.
True, "how to rid yourself of a cursed item" is spoily. But to anyone
who's played the game a few times, the news that there are such things
as cursed items isn't spoily. Trapped armor, et cetera, is much less
omnipresent.

None of this is to argue that "this shouldn't be in the FAQ". It's
merely an attempt at explaining, from no knowledge of the real reason,
why it might be considered reasonable to not have it in the FAQ. ^_^

Some time ago, I've been asking for prefix-/suffix-related questions
that should be added to the FAQ, but didn't get a response. I will add
that one, and the treasure hunter thing requested by Juuka Kuusisto as
soon as I am back at my usual computer.

I am sure there are more questions regarding ADOM 1.1.x which are not
adequately covered by the FAQ. Suggestions?

Find an altar that is not of the same alignment as yourself. Take off all
your equipment apart from the trapped armour, drop it all on the ground, and
then kick the altar until it shatters. Your punishment? The angry god will
turn the trapped armour to dust.
I've figured another solution: scroll of item destruction. Now I am free
of that very heavy scale mail.

First of all kicking altars is not recommended as that would be wasting a
perfectly convertable altar. Saccing might have this effect, i dont remember.

Secondly, how the heck do you trap armor? how does it grab ahold of you? the
neck, or the waist or what?
Idea: attacking self. do regualar listed fighting damage against yourself,
minus DV for you wont dodge, and give chance of item destruction. Be a funny
visualization at least, a halfling madly stabbing himself with his rabbit
knife.

The same way you can't remove cursed armour, I assume: magically.

Too easy. The stuff's *supposed* to be difficult to remove. Besides, if
you're trying to cut armour off yourself or something, you don't randomly
stab at yourself anyway.
