I'm switching out of MS Outlook to another client. I'm trying Free
Agent and also Noworyta News Reader. This group discussed this before
and I hope you can steer me again to a good reader. Any opinions?
40tude dialog (www.40tude.com/dialog).

it's still in beta, but it looks nice, most certainly will score
100% on the GNKSA one day (when it's tested), and it already
offers a lot of features. search no more, this is _the_ newsreader
for windows.

'Mozilla Mail & Newsgroups' worked fine for me so far. Convenient to
have it all under one roof. I havn't noticed so far any complaint about
what it spits out and I found everything posted quite readable.
No experience with any other newsreaders for windows, but send me your
experiences, I like the idea of better software!

Hmm. Doesn't Mozilla have a deficiency regarding kill and/or scorefiles
or has that been improved?

OTOH, I'm afraid at the moment I don't have anything else to recommend to
a Windows user either. I recall being satisfied with Free Agent last time
I tried it, but then that's a long time ago.

<snip>

I guess it's a pretty much "bare bones" newsreader. Basicaly everyting you
NEED it does very well (quoting, sigs, encoding, setting follow up or cross
posts all work perfectly), but beyond the ability to read and post properly
there are no extras to speak of at all. Well it can compose WYSIWYG HTML
messages, but that is usualy a big NO NO on the Usenet anyway so no big
pluss there...

Personaly I've never missed the ability to killfile people though, but I
guess that is because I only hang out at well-behaved NG's like r.g.r.adom :)

All in all one can work around that by the filtering options in Mozilla.
Even by Subjects! Just upgraded to 1.3.1. Seems satisfactory.

I'd suggest XanaNews ( http://www.wilsonc.demon.co.uk/delphi.htm , IIRC). Open
Source newsreader that occasionally seems to get updated once a week or so.
That's what I'll be using once I get a real newsserver to post from. <glares
